Instrumental in the planning and execution of a major data center move project. This move consolidated servers from 3 different data centers into 1 data center during a 6 month time period.
Worked with IBM to schedule changes to allow testing of TDMF (Transparent Data Migration Facility). TDMF was used to electronically move some of the systems that were not being physically moved.
Liaison between several internal groups and IBM for planning and problem resolution.
Collected data regarding inventory of machines and applications in an effort to verify existing lists and standardize on a coherent configuration management list.
Manned the move control center during the actual move.
Led the consolidation effort for the MST Development and Test environments. Reduced the environment from 19 AIX LPARs, 11 AS400s and 19 Linux servers down to 5 AIX LPARs, 2 AS400s and 5 Linux servers. This reduction, along with the resulting reduction in application costs, was projected to save $1.2MM per year.
Key resource for various onshore and offshore development teams with respect to application troubleshooting, hardware and environment change coordination, software licensing, and various other technical issues.
